A split system is different than a packaged air conditioning system because the condenser and coil components are separated. Or, in other words, a split system has two different units connected by a copper tube that moves coolant between the units. Typically a packaged unit is located on the roof of the business with ductwork installed in the roof and into the business. A split system usually has the condenser located on a concrete pad outside the business, while the evaporative coil is placed inside a closet, attic, garage or utility area of the business.
